Guess the powers that be in the SyFy Original Movie department wanted to capitalize on the Ving Rhames in another zombie flick after his stint in the remake of Dawn of the Dead years earlier. This did not really accomplish much. The tale is pretty standard with nothing too interesting to keep your attention. There is a band of surviving archers to wow you, but nothing will prepare you for the arrival of - CGI zombie tigers!

Root of All Evil?

Not great, not horrible. Off the bat that's better than many of this SyFy originals. A killer plant takes over the country - not much else to say.

Slick Streets and Prehistoric Creatures

Another of my shitty movie weaknesses. Nothing too great about this, but Brea Grant is rather easy on the eyes. The creature was interesting but badly CGi'd, no surprise there. The funny thing is that its scale seemed to change depending on the scene. Maybe I was just tired.

Gators Are the Least of Their Worries

Yes, it's another SyFy flick but I can't look away. I'm a sucker for these low budget ridiculous killer animal movies and anything with sharks has my attention any time. Nothing really great about this other than a cool decapitation via shark and the attractiveness of Gary Sinise's daughter, Sophie. Great cast featuring Kristy Swanson, D.B. Sweeny and Robert Davi.

Leapin' Leprechauns

Who knew that Ireland had giant man-eating birds? Typical SyFy stuff, not too interesting but some of the rural Irish locales are nice looking. Not what I'd call a ringing endorsement.

Out of This World

Ferocious Planet (2011)

This is about what you'd expect from a SyFy flick about accidentally traveling to another dimension filled with large violent alien creatures. The CGI is meh and doesn't match the look of the real life very well, though the design of the creatures is pretty cool. Not much really happens and by the end I was shocked at how little seemed to occur.

Meh.

SyFy's 200th Movie

Some people out there really rag on me for wanting to watch all of those SyFy Original Movies. I can understand why you might not be into these cheesy, bad acted, all around ridiculous flicks, but I have fun with them. Every once in a while one of the films is actually pretty good and this is one of them. Some of the acting is bad, but not all, the family plot line doesn't go anywhere and is a tad stupid. There is some CGI and it is bad. The good news is that the majority of the FX are practical and look pretty damn good. Some of the language was edited for SyFy and on IMDb it lists this as being rated R. There are a couple scenes that could have nudity so I wonder what all is left out.

Fun Fact: The writer, Anthony C. Ferrante, has a background in FX, was one of the zombies in last week's Horror Movie Night selection The Video Dead and was a production assistant on the infamous Clownhouse.

Gators on Steroids!

About what I expected but still fun. I don't think any of these films can top the awesomeness of Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, but I'm glad they keep trying. The Debbie Gibson and Tiffany showdown is great and love all of the little inside jokes with lines from their songs. RIP Micky Dolenz :)

Crazy that this was directed by Pet Sematary's Mary Lambert.
